1. Job Title
SAP SD Consultant
2. Role Purpose
The SAP SD Consultant is responsible for designing, configuring, implementing, and supporting SAP Sales & Distribution (SD) solutions that align with business objectives and operational requirements. The role involves collaborating with business stakeholders, technical teams, and external partners to optimize sales processes, enhance system integrations, drive process improvements, and ensure seamless operation of SAP and connected enterprise applications. The incumbent will contribute across the project lifecycle, including requirement gathering, solution design, testing, deployment, user training, and post-go-live support.
3. Key Responsibilities
SAP SD Functional Support & Implementation
Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable SAP SD solutions.
Configure and support SAP SD processes including order management, pricing, billing, shipping, credit management, and sales operations.
Lead requirement gathering workshops and document functional specifications.
Collaborate with technical teams for the development and deployment of enhancements.
Solution Design & Development
Design and support standard and custom SAP developments (WRICEF objects – Workflow, Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms).
Evaluate solution feasibility and ensure compatibility with existing enterprise systems.
Support architectural design discussions and recommend best practices for SAP SD solutions.
Integration & Technical Coordination
Work closely with ABAP, HANA, Basis, and integration teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
Support integrations between SAP and third-party applications using APIs, middleware, and integration platforms.
Assist in monitoring and troubleshooting interfaces, message flows, and system integrations.
Support PI/PO integration activities including request/response handling, message monitoring, and JSON-based integrations.
Testing, Deployment & Support
Prepare and execute test scenarios including Unit Testing, SIT, UAT, and Regression Testing.
Coordinate user acceptance testing and ensure business sign-off.
Support data migration activities and cutover planning.
Provide post-go-live support and resolve production issues within agreed service levels.
Stakeholder & User Enablement
Partner with business users to identify process improvement opportunities.
Conduct end-user training sessions and prepare process documentation.
Provide ongoing support and guidance to key users and business stakeholders.
Ensure adherence to governance, compliance, and change management processes.
Continuous Improvement
Recommend automation opportunities and process enhancements.
Stay updated on SAP innovations, S/4HANA capabilities, and industry best practices.
Support digital transformation initiatives and enterprise-wide technology integration projects.
4. Role Specifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Systems, or a related discipline.
SAP SD Certification preferred.
Experience
5–10 years of experience in SAP SD implementation and support environments.
Experience in end-to-end SAP project lifecycle management, including implementation, rollout, upgrade, and support projects.
Exposure to manufacturing, consumer goods, ceramics, building materials, or similar industries is preferred.
Technical Requirements
Strong expertise in SAP SD configuration and business process mapping.
Working knowledge of ABAP, HANA, debugging concepts, and technical object understanding.
Experience with WRICEF development lifecycle.
Knowledge of SAP integration methodologies and middleware platforms.
Understanding of API integrations, JSON structures, and enterprise application integration.
Exposure to CRM integration, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Salesforce, or equivalent CRM platforms.
Working knowledge of SQL Server administration, database structures, views, stored procedures, and scripting.
