Job Description: Azure DevOps Engineer (R&D Focus)
Experience: [8 Yrs to 12/14 Yrs] Department: Cloud/Infra/Platform
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Azure DevOps Engineer who thrives in an R&D-driven
environment and enjoys exploring emerging technologies. This role goes beyond standard
CI/CD pipeline management — you will actively experiment with GitHub/Microsoft Copilot,
Azure Data Lake, and Microsoft Fabric to build proof-of-concepts, automate workflows,
and drive innovation across the DevOps and data engineering landscape.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-changing environments,
enjoys prototyping new tools, and can translate R&D findings into production-grade
automation and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
¢ Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps (Pipelines,
Repos, Boards, Artifacts).
e Manage and optimize Infrastructure as Code (laC) using Terraform / ARM / Bicep
templates.
e Integrate and evaluate Al-assisted development tools (Copilot, Copilot for Azure,
Copilot Studio) to improve developer productivity and pipeline intelligence.
* Build and maintain data pipelines and storage architecture using Azure Data Lake
Storage (ADLS Gen2) and Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Factory pipelines,
OneLake).
e Automate operational tasks using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting
languages.
e Conduct R&D / POCs on new Azure services, Copilot capabilities, and Fabric features;
document findings and recommend adoption strategies.
e Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and
Application Insights.
e Collaborate with data engineering, application, and security teams to ensure secure,
scalable, and compliant deployments.
e Manage container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes/AKS) as part of deployment
pipelines.
.
Contribute to internal tooling, automation frameworks, and best-practice
documentation.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (Pipelines, Repos, Boards, Release
Management).
Solid understanding of Azure cloud services: Compute, Networking, Storage,
IAM/RBAC.
Working knowledge of Data Lake / Data Fabric concepts — Lakehouse architecture,
OneLake, Data Factory/Fabric pipelines.
Practical exposure to Microsoft Copilot / GitHub Copilot or willingness to actively
R&D and adopt Al dev tools.
Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) for automation.
Experience with laC tools (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates).
Familiarity with CI/CD best practices, branching strategies, and release pipelines.
Understanding of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes/AKS) is a
plus.
Strong problem-solving mindset with a genuine interest in exploring and evaluating
new technologies.
Good to Have
Microsoft Certifications: AZ-400 (DevOps Engineer Expert), DP-600 (Fabric
Analytics Engineer), or Al-related certifications.
Experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or other CI/CD tools.
Exposure to Databricks, Synapse Analytics, or Power BI.
Prior experience contributing to internal R&D, hackathons, or POC-driven initiatives.
Soft Skills
Curious, self-driven, and comfortable working with evolving/undocumented tools.
Strong communication skills to document and present R&D findings to stakeholders.
Ability to balance experimentation with production-readiness and delivery timelines.
