Assistant Manager – Business Development
Role Purpose
To drive business growth by developing and strengthening relationships with architects, interior designers, consultants, government bodies, institutions, and key influencers in the building materials ecosystem. The role focuses on generating project specifications, identifying new business opportunities, enhancing brand visibility, and contributing to revenue growth through strategic stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Market Expansion
· Drive business growth by identifying, developing, and converting opportunities across project, institutional, corporate, and government segments.
· Build and strengthen relationships with architects, interior designers, consultants, contractors, project management consultants (PMCs), and institutional decision-makers.
· Generate product specifications and approvals for ongoing and upcoming projects to create sustainable demand.
· Identify and develop opportunities for newly launched products through proactive engagement with architects, designers, and project stakeholders.
· Monitor market trends, competitor activities, pricing strategies, and customer requirements to support business planning and growth initiatives.
Key Account Management
· Manage and nurture relationships with key architects, institutional clients, government authorities, and corporate accounts.
· Develop long-term partnerships with influential stakeholders to enhance brand preference and project conversion rates.
· Collaborate with channel partners, dealers, and distributors to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction.
Product Promotion & Brand Building
· Enhance brand visibility and market presence through regular interactions, presentations, product demonstrations, and specification meetings.
· Ensure effective product sampling and display at architect, designer, consultant, and institutional offices.
· Represent the organization at industry exhibitions, trade shows, building material expos, and networking events to promote products and generate leads.
· Conduct product awareness sessions and technical presentations for architects, designers, and project stakeholders.
Commercial & Project Coordination
· Prepare and submit techno-commercial proposals and quotations aligned with customer requirements and market competitiveness.
· Coordinate with internal stakeholders and channel partners to ensure timely response to customer requirements, sampling, approvals, and project execution.
· Support negotiations and commercial discussions while ensuring profitability and customer satisfaction.
· Track project progress and ensure timely conversion of specifications into business orders.
Database Management & Reporting
· Maintain an updated database of architects, designers, consultants, government departments, institutions, and key influencers.
· Ensure regular communication regarding new product launches, product updates, technical features, and company initiatives.
· Prepare periodic reports on project pipelines, business opportunities, specification activities, competition insights, and sales conversions.
· Utilize CRM systems and digital tools for lead management, opportunity tracking, and relationship management.
Education
MBA (Marketing) preferred; Graduate in any discipline with relevant industry experience may also be considered
Experience
4–7 years of experience in Business Development, Project Sales, Specification Sales, or Institutional Sales within the Building Materials, Tiles, Ceramics, Sanitaryware, Construction Materials, Paints, Adhesives, or allied industries

· Proficiency in CRM platforms, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and business reporting tools.
· Excellent communication, presentation, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
· Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
· Willingness to travel extensively based on business requirements.
