The Executive – R&D will support the development of innovative ceramic tile products by conducting laboratory testing, product trials, raw material evaluation, and process optimization. The role is responsible for assisting in new product development, ensuring product quality, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance manufacturing efficiency and deliver market-driven solutions.
Assist in the development of new ceramic tile body compositions, glaze formulations, and innovative product designs aligned with market requirements.
Support new product development (NPD) initiatives through laboratory trials, pilot runs, and validation activities.
Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new raw materials and manufacturing technologies.
Conduct physical, chemical, and performance testing of raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished tiles as per established standards.
Analyze laboratory results and provide technical recommendations to improve product performance and process efficiency.
Ensure timely calibration and proper utilization of laboratory equipment and testing instruments.
Collaborate with Production and Quality teams to troubleshoot process-related issues and improve manufacturing consistency.
Support optimization of firing cycles, glaze applications, digital printing parameters, and body formulations.
Recommend process improvements to enhance product quality, yield, and cost efficiency.
Maintain accurate records of laboratory tests, product trials, formulations, and technical reports.
Prepare technical documentation, trial reports, and product evaluation summaries for management review.
Ensure compliance with internal quality systems, testing protocols, and documentation standards.
Monitor critical quality parameters and identify opportunities for corrective and preventive actions.
Support root cause analysis of product defects and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Assist in standardizing formulations and laboratory procedures to ensure repeatability and consistency.
Ensure adherence to laboratory safety practices, environmental guidelines, and company policies.
Maintain proper handling and storage of chemicals, raw materials, and laboratory equipment.
Promote a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence within the R&D function.
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
Additional certification in Quality Management, Laboratory Practices, or Product Development will be an added advantage.
2–5 years of experience in Research & Development, Product Development, Quality, or Laboratory Operations within the ceramic, tiles, building materials, or related manufacturing industry.
Fresh candidates with strong academic backgrounds and relevant project experience may also be considered for junior roles.
Understanding of ceramic body formulation, glaze chemistry, and tile manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of laboratory testing methods, material characterization, and quality control procedures.
Familiarity with digital printing technology, firing processes, and surface finishing techniques.
Proficiency in MS Office and laboratory data documentation; exposure to ERP or Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is desirable.
Strong technical aptitude with a passion for product innovation and research.
